“Rachel Dolezal and the ‘Chattering Class’…” By Rhett E. Column; #SayWhatNews, #AXJ, #FreePress

NEW YORK, New York – No doubt the free world, as we know it, has weighed in on all things Rachel Dolezal, the head-strong, white while pretending to be black, woman from Spokane, Washington who headed, until recently, a local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.) Chapter as it’s President there.

And as the chattering class continues to break down the rights and wrongs of impersonating black. But I’d like to remind, kindly and respectfully, all those that have read into this mass hysteria that those that are pounding the righteous indignation drums the loudest here, have already succeeded. (And yes they succeeded while black.)

We see you. We hear you. You are still relevant.

But Ms. Dolezal is our new ‘it’. Our latest trend on the racial-bi-racial coaster train to equality for all.

I get what good folks like Mr. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are saying. I also hear what Tavis Smiley has had to say. I get it. But here’s the thing these people have already made their mark, made their way in the world. By rights and technicality Rachael Dolezal is just getting started. Rightly or wrongly.

Did she lie? Yes. Did she have any business lying? No. Be who you are. Be who God made you to be. White. Black. Green. Yellow. Brown. Gay. Straight. Bi-Sexual. Transgender. Be you. Do you. (A bit conflicting ,I know, in all my summation, but I get both ends of the argument here.)

In fairness. Some have made the argument that Rachel Dolezal didn’t have to ‘pretend’ to be black to be successful because the N.A.A.C.P. welcomes all comers, regardless of race, creed, ethnic or national origin. The N.A.A.C.P. welcomes you, will welcome you. And once more, work hard, play by the rules, prove yourself worthy of the profound opportunity and you could be running the show someday. Or so we’ve been told.

And perhaps, that may be why, among many other reasons, that Rachel Dolezal did what she did. Why she elected to lie. And has lied most her life according to her parents. (Maybe just maybe, she didn’t believe the hype?)

“Lawrence and Ruthanne Dolezal, who are estranged from their daughter, say that her ancestry is overwhelmingly white, with a small fraction being Native American — but not black. They produced photos of her as a fair-skinned teenager with freckles and straight blond hair — a marked contrast to her recent appearance.”

But we may never know the entire story because all we can do now, as a Community Collective, is set back [speculate] and watch the show. Take in the words of the chattering class. The arm-chair quarterbacks, and in all of that just know that there is still work to do. The work still needs to be done, and that really is the problem. [My God how the work never ends!]

Because I can get past all this, but the question is, can you?

— Rhett.
